Signs of Head Gasket Failure
At Denver’s altitude, cooling systems already run closer to their limits, so overheating events — the number-one cause of head gasket failure — do damage faster here. If your engine has overheated even once, a head gasket check is cheap insurance.

Repair or Replace? An Honest Assessment
A head gasket job is a significant investment, and sometimes — on high-mileage engines with other major issues — it isn’t the smart one. We give you a straight assessment of engine health from our full engine diagnostics so you can decide with complete information. When the engine is otherwise healthy, a properly done head gasket repair restores years of reliable service.
Why Head Gaskets Fail
The head gasket seals the joint between engine block and cylinder head across extreme swings of pressure and temperature. Overheating is the number-one killer: hot aluminum heads expand, warp, and crush the gasket, which is why a single bad thermostat or slow coolant leak so often ends in a head gasket job. Age and design play their parts too — certain engines, notably several Subaru BOXER generations, have well-documented gasket weaknesses. That’s why our repair always addresses the cause, not just the gasket: machining warped surfaces, correcting the cooling system, and verifying the repair under real operating conditions before the car leaves.
